In the course of negotiating business arrangements with a retailer, as a new or emerging vendor, there are six areas where it is prudent for both parties to have a clear understanding of the agreements and the consequences that result from deviations. Failure to understand these issues, or to comply, may result in the retailer taking some action, normally in the form of a deduction or a payment withholding. The dispute process can be lengthy, time consuming, and costly to both parties. Due diligence and good business process on the front end can eliminate and or streamline the resolution so that both parties can maximize their mutual business opportunities.
